Palliative Care Support Worker

Salary £23,560 with room to develop and progress through the pay grade banding up to £25,372 on a competency-based framework

The Vacancy

Are you a Health Care Assistant or Carer looking for an opportunity to utilise your caring skills and knowledge in palliative care or someone with life experience and the motivation to use that learning to support patients and their loved ones? We are recruiting for an Adults Palliative Care Support Worker (PCSW) on a 22.5 hour permanent contract based from our Living Wells Centre Bedford, which operates Tuesday - Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

What You’ll Do

Provide hands on patient centred care
Show compassion when communicating with patients and their families
Support colleagues in providing high-quality palliative and end-of-life care, including pre and post bereavement support.
Actively engage in the training opportunities to develop your palliative care knowledge and skills
Recognise the importance of sharing experiences to manage your own wellbeing, and encourage others to do the same

What You’ll Need

Previous work or personal experience in caring for patients at end of life
Great communication skills both written and verbal
Confident to working unsupervised with the ability to prioritise shifting workloads
Good interpersonal and communication skills working with patients, families, carers and professionals
Motivated to develop a career in palliative care
Health Care qualification NVQ Level 2/3 highly desirable
